Services and expertise:

• Spill responders and technical advisors

The workforce has a broad capability mix, with backgrounds in mechanical, chemical, environmental, marine and offshore engineering, and/or experience in the military. All response and technical employees are thoroughly trained and regularly exercised. OSRL personnel are trained under the Company’s Approved Competency Management System (ACMS) which parallels management systems in the international oil industry and has been accredited by the Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO). The company employs more than 300 personnel to address the industry’s demand for preparedness, intervention and response activity.

• Equipment stockpile

The company stocks a range of oil spill response equipment ready for deployment 24/7, including dispersant stockpiles, aerial dispersant delivery systems, catamarans, a wide array of booms, fireboom systems and skimmers, and well-containment devices for subsea incidents. A containment system, to allow hydrocarbons to safely flow to surface for processing and disposal during subsea incidents, will be available for industry use from the end of 2014

• Training and consultancy

OSRL is committed to the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) initiatives to promote training for oil spill preparedness and response, and delivers an accredited training service. The company also provides consultancy services in oil spill emergency and contingency planning, and participates in Member and industry run exercises for a well-coordinated response.

• External engagement

OSRL’s network of engagement also extends beyond its industry ownership and includes representatives of the relevant authorities and governmental stakeholders with whom the company can build relationships and develop partnerships for shared aims. Besides contributing to technical forums, seminars and conferences worldwide, the company collaborates with Sea Alarm Foundation to increase global wildlife response preparedness, and is part of the Global Response Network (GRN), a coalition of major oil spill response companies.
